Ace producer Allu Aravind, known for his sharp instincts and perfect timing, is once again making a strategic move in Bollywood. After introducing the ₹100 crore club to Hindi cinema with Ghajini, he’s now planning a Bollywood comeback with the remake of the Telugu classic Arundhati.
Currently, horror films are dominating the Hindi box office, and Aravind seems ready to cash in on the trend. According to reports, the project is likely to go on floors by January next year. The remake will be directed by Mohan Raja, who has a strong track record with successful remakes.
The exciting twist? Rising star Sreeleela is being considered for the lead role made iconic by Anushka Shetty in the original. In a recent interview, Sreeleela hinted that her upcoming projects will showcase her in a new light — perhaps a subtle nod to this high-impact role.
The original Arundhati remains one of Anushka’s career-defining performances, blending mythology, horror, and emotion — a rare combination that earned it cult status. With Allu Aravind’s production vision, Mohan Raja’s direction, and Sreeleela’s youthful energy, this remake is shaping up to be one of Bollywood’s most anticipated projects.
