Youth Dies While Taking Holy Dip at Pathala Ganga

A 22-year-old youth from Mumbai died accidentally while taking a holy dip in the Pathala Ganga at Lingala Gattu in Sunnipenta, Srisailam mandal, on Sunday afternoon. According to police, members of a family from the Mumbai region had entered the river near the water outlet of the Telangana Powerhouse on the left bank.

Sachin Rajput (22), who worked at Wipro, and Abhishek Chaturvedi (29), an employee of Khanpur Gallaher Insurance Company, went some distance into the river from the bank. Unable to judge the depth and water current, both were swept away. Hearing their cries for help, local fishermen attempted to rescue them using a raft and brought both unconscious youths to the shore before shifting them to a hospital.

Abhishek Chaturvedi recovered, while doctors at Sunnipenta Government Hospital confirmed that Sachin Rajput had died. The area where the incident occurred falls under the jurisdiction of the Eegalapenta Police Station in Amrabad mandal of Telangana.
