World’s First Om-Shaped Temple in Rajasthan: A Spiritual Marvel with 1,008 Shiva Idols

Rajasthan’s Pali district is home to a remarkable Om-shaped temple that has attracted attention for its distinctive architecture and spiritual significance. Located in Jadan village, the Om Aakar Temple is described as the world’s first temple built in the shape of the sacred ‘Om’ symbol. Spread across nearly 250 acres, the temple reflects a blend of spirituality, traditional Nagara architectural influences and engineering expertise. The complex features around 2,000 intricately carved pillars, while the main structure rises to approximately 135 feet. A Shiva Lingam crafted from rare stone at the top of the temple is another major attraction.

The temple complex is said to house 1,008 Shiva idols, including replicas representing the 12 Jyotirlingas. It also contains 108 rooms, while an artificial lake adds to the beauty and spiritual ambience of the premises. The vision behind the Om Ashram and the temple is attributed to Vishwaguru Mahamandaleshwar Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda Puri Ji Maharaj, with meditation and spiritual learning forming key objectives. Construction reportedly began in 1995 and continued for several years. The temple has since emerged as a unique spiritual and tourist destination, where the sacred sound of ‘Om’ is represented through an extraordinary architectural form.
