Weather Disrupts Mumbai Airport Operations...Flights Diverted

Adverse weather conditions in Mumbai forced air traffic control to divert 12 flights bound for the city to airports in Gujarat as a precautionary measure. Eight flights landed at Surat Airport, while four were diverted to Vadodara. Officials said the flights are expected to return to Mumbai once weather conditions improve. Drinking water, meals and refreshments were arranged for passengers at the diverted airports.

Of the flights diverted to Surat, five were operated by IndiGo and three by Air India Express. The flights that landed in Vadodara included Air India services along with another IndiGo flight. A Vadodara airport official said Mumbai’s weather remained unsuitable due to overcast skies, strong winds, lightning and thunderstorms. Passengers were provided with meals and other refreshments while waiting for further updates.
