The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall across several parts of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and other southern states until the 22nd of this month. The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow alert for Telangana. On Saturday, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely at isolated places in Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet and Gadwal districts. Heavy rainfall on Friday afternoon inundated Tirupati Airport, damaged compound walls near the VIP gates of the new terminal and old airport, and caused rainwater to enter the runway. Due to unfavourable weather conditions, a flight arriving from Vijayawada was diverted to Chennai.
The IMD has also forecast the formation of separate low-pressure systems over the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea during the last week of this month. A weather expert said one of these systems could intensify into a depression or cyclone. Meteorological experts have reported that sea surface temperatures in the western and central equatorial Pacific are currently around 3°C above normal, with further warming possible by December. These conditions are being closely monitored for their potential impact on weather patterns.
