Wangchuk's Demands to End Hunger Strike

Environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on a hunger strike for more than 20 days over failures in the education system and the NEET question paper leak, has laid down three conditions for ending his fast. He demanded that the government accept responsibility for the lapses in the education system and the NEET paper leak. He also sought a public assurance from political leaders that the issue would be raised in Parliament. If his health prevents him from joining the proposed Parliament march, he asked senior political leaders to visit him in the hospital and personally make these commitments.

In a letter, Wangchuk alleged that he was being unlawfully detained at Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi. Meanwhile, his wife Geetanjali Angmo approached the Delhi High Court seeking his transfer to a private hospital. However, the court declined to grant interim relief, observing that the government had the authority to shift him to a hospital due to his deteriorating health. The court also noted that doctors are continuously monitoring his condition and administering treatment with his consent.
