The State Election Commission has postponed polling for the Vizianagaram Municipal Corporation by one day. Elections to corporations and municipalities across the state were originally scheduled for the 28th of this month. However, as the Sirimanu Utsavam of Goddess Paidithalli is scheduled to take place in Vizianagaram on the same day, District Collector Rama Sundar Reddy wrote to the State Election Commission requesting a change in the polling date.
After considering the collector’s request, the State Election Commission approved holding the Vizianagaram Corporation elections on the 29th of this month. The commission clarified that the vote-counting schedule remains unchanged. Counting will take place on the 30th, as announced earlier. The polling date was revised in view of the Paidithalli Ammavari Sirimanu Utsavam.
