Authorities in Visakhapatnam have intensified monitoring measures following growing concerns over the Ebola virus outbreak. Officials reviewed the situation after reports revealed that more than 400 students from African countries like Congo, Uganda and Sudan are currently studying at institutions including GITAM and Andhra University. While some students are staying in local hostels, others had reportedly travelled back to their home countries and are expected to return soon. Authorities are also tracking new admissions expected in the coming weeks.
Health and airport officials are conducting special reviews at Visakhapatnam Airport to strengthen preventive measures. Passengers arriving through international routes, including flights connected via Singapore, Hyderabad and Bengaluru, are expected to undergo mandatory health screenings. Officials are focusing on early precautionary steps to avoid any potential health risks as more international students are expected to arrive during the upcoming admission season.
