

Visakhapatnam has received a major boost in urban infrastructure development, as the National Apex Committee approved three key projects proposed by the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation under the Government of India’s Urban Challenge Fund scheme. The total estimated investment for these projects is ₹1,501.03 crore.
The approved projects include the development of an underground drainage system in the Madhurawada zone at a cost of ₹658.61 crore, a 24/7 smart drinking water supply system in the same zone with an investment of ₹725.18 crore, and the rehabilitation and modernization of bulk and semi bulk water supply systems worth ₹117.24 crore.
These projects are expected to significantly strengthen Visakhapatnam’s urban infrastructure and improve the quality of life for citizens. The state leadership expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for supporting the city’s development. Under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Visakhapatnam is moving towards becoming a future-ready city.
