Bhaturas, the deep fried maida puris enjoyed by many, are drawing attention on social media after a video showing oil extracted from them went viral. In the video, six bhaturas are put through a sugarcane juice machine, from which oil flows out and is collected in a glass, reportedly filling it to the brim. Acharya Manish shared the video on Instagram to highlight the oil content in fried foods and encourage people to limit their intake. He also referred to health concerns associated with excessive consumption of oily foods, including heart, liver and kidney problems, as well as PCOD.
The video has prompted mixed reactions online. Some users say people who frequently eat fried foods should pay closer attention to their dietary habits, while others argue that favourite foods need not be avoided completely and can be enjoyed in moderation. However, the amount of oil collected in the video does not establish how much oil the body absorbs from the bhaturas. The video also does not prove that bhaturas directly cause specific diseases. Experts generally recommend a balanced diet and limiting foods high in fat to support overall health.
