US Visa Appointments Put on Hold

The US government has reportedly taken a major decision to temporarily suspend visa appointments worldwide. Consular officers will receive additional training to thoroughly assess and continuously identify applicants who may become financially dependent on the US government after entering the country under the “public charge” provision.

The development comes a day after the Trump administration proposed a $103,265 fee for H-1B visas. Visa applicants have reportedly received emails informing them that their scheduled appointments have been rescheduled. Applicants have been told that their new appointment date and time will be communicated separately.
