The United States has reportedly suffered significant military losses during the recent conflict involving Iran and Israel, with several advanced MQ-9 Reaper drones allegedly destroyed by Iranian attacks. According to international media reports, Iran managed to shoot down or damage nearly 30 MQ-9 Reaper drones used by US forces during the conflict. The losses are said to account for nearly 20 percent of the Pentagon’s operational stockpile of the highly advanced unmanned aerial vehicles.
Reports suggest that many of the drones were intercepted mid-air by Iranian defence systems, while others were destroyed on the ground during missile strikes. Each MQ-9 Reaper drone is estimated to cost around 30 million dollars and is equipped with advanced surveillance cameras, sensors and strike capabilities. The US military reportedly relied heavily on these drones during operations against Iran. Defence analysts believe the losses could pose a serious challenge for Washington, especially as production of the Reaper drones has reportedly slowed down in recent months.
