US Fully Supports IMEC.. Trump Makes Key Remarks

US President Donald Trump has expressed support for the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), which is designed to connect India with Europe through the Middle East. Trump made the remarks during a meeting with members of the Gulf Cooperation Council on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly. He said energy infrastructure in West Asia should be located away from areas under Iranian influence.

Trump said the US administration fully supports IMEC and other routes that could move oil and other energy resources out of the region through pipelines or alternative means. IMEC was unveiled at the G20 Summit in New Delhi in September 2023. The multimodal connectivity project is designed to link India, the Middle East and Europe through rail and maritime routes, energy infrastructure and data networks.
