The United States government has reportedly approved two major defence deals with India worth nearly ₹4,000 crore. As part of the agreement, India will procure support systems and services for AH-64 Apache combat helicopters and M777 Ultra-Light Howitzers. The approval was granted by the US State Department to strengthen India’s defence capabilities.
The Apache package includes engineering, logistics, technical support, and maintenance services, with Boeing and Lockheed Martin jointly handling the contract. Meanwhile, BAE Systems will support the M777 Howitzer package, which includes spare parts, repairs, training, and technical assistance. The AH-64 Apache is considered one of the world’s most advanced multirole combat helicopters with Hellfire missiles, Longbow radar, and advanced night-vision systems.
