Uncertainty continues over the health of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei. Iran has attempted to counter reports in Israeli and international media claiming that he is seriously ill and in critical condition. As part of those efforts, the state linked Mehr News Agency released a 12 second video on Saturday night showing Khamenei appearing healthy and speaking with people. However, the absence of a date for the footage has raised further questions about when it was recorded.
Speculation about Khamenei’s health has intensified in recent days, with Israel’s Channel 14 reporting that he had allegedly been taken to a hospital in critical condition. The latest video released by Iran has also come under scrutiny, with some international observers and social media users claiming it could be old footage recorded in Qom before the conflict began. Khamenei has reportedly not appeared publicly since assuming the position of Supreme Leader, while President Masoud Pezeshkian previously said direct communication with him had become difficult. These developments have kept questions over his health alive.
