The United Kingdom has designated Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organisation, citing concerns that the group has been involved in activities posing a threat to the country's national security. According to the UK government, the decision was taken to strengthen national security and provide law enforcement agencies with additional powers to act against individuals or groups linked to such activities.
Along with the IRGC, the UK has also added the Islamic Movement of Companions of the Right (IMCR) and Russia's GRU Volunteer Corps to its list of banned organisations. The British government said the move is intended to safeguard national interests and counter foreign state-linked threats operating within the country.
