Amid reports of rebellion by some Members of Parliament within Shiv Sena (UBT), party chief Uddhav Thackeray made significant remarks in Mumbai. He apologised to the people who voted for the MPs who later left the party. Uddhav stated that if party leaders no longer have confidence in him, he is prepared to step down from the position of party president.
He further said that although Shiv Sena (UBT) has political differences with Congress, the party has never attempted to destroy or weaken Shiv Sena the way he alleges the BJP has done. Uddhav questioned why his party would merge with Congress when it did not merge with the BJP even after maintaining an alliance for nearly three decades. His remarks have sparked fresh political discussions across Maharashtra.
