Mahrah Al Nahyan, 32, a member of Abu Dhabi’s ruling royal family through marriage, has admitted to a charge of child neglect at Southwark Crown Court in London. The case relates to an incident on June 13, 2026, when she was found unconscious beside railings on a street in west London. A three-year-old child in her care was reportedly barefoot and playing close to moving traffic. Passers-by intervened to look after the child and contacted the police. Court proceedings highlighted the serious risk posed to the child while Al Nahyan and another man were unconscious nearby.
The court imposed a two-year community order requiring Al Nahyan to undergo rehabilitation. She was also ordered to pay a total of £6,114 in fines and prosecution costs. Her lawyer told the court that she had shown remorse and was committed to overcoming her substance-use problems. According to the defence, she had been receiving treatment at a rehabilitation centre in Surrey since July and intended to continue her recovery programme. The judge stressed that leaving the child unattended near a busy road had shown a serious disregard for the child’s safety.
