Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) officials have rejected and returned 12 tonnes of cashews after they failed to meet the prescribed quality standards. The consignment was transported from Parvathipuram to the TTD warehouse in Tirumala for the temple’s requirements. After the consignment arrived, officials collected samples and conducted quality tests at the TTD Food Analysis Laboratory in Tirumala. The tests reportedly found that the cashews did not conform to the quality specifications set by the TTD.
Following the test results, the entire 12-tonne consignment was rejected and sent back to the suppliers. TTD officials said special attention is being given to the quality of raw materials supplied for temple requirements. They reiterated that only raw materials meeting the prescribed standards should be used, particularly in the preparation of Tirumala Laddu Prasadam. Questions are also being raised over the supply of the cashews before the quality checks were completed. TTD officials maintained that there would be no compromise on quality.
