Tensions in West Asia are escalating once again amid reports that the United States and Israel are preparing to resume strikes against Iran. Former US President Donald Trump warned Tehran that “time is running out” and urged it to reach a deal quickly. His post on Truth Social, featuring an AI-generated image, has gone viral. The image depicts warships navigating turbulent waters with Iranian flags, with Trump and a US Navy admiral standing aboard one vessel. Accompanying the post was a cryptic message suggesting that “calm often precedes a storm.” In a media interaction, Trump reiterated that Iran must act swiftly to avoid severe consequences, though he refrained from confirming whether a deal was imminent.
Trump also spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the phone, briefing him about his China visit and reiterating the urgency of action against Iran. Meanwhile, reports suggest that both US and Israeli officials are actively considering renewed military operations. In a related development, a drone attack targeted the Barakah nuclear power plant in the United Arab Emirates, causing a fire within the premises, though no injuries or radiation leaks were reported. Separately, amid ongoing regional tensions, a vessel carrying 20,000 tonnes of LPG safely arrived at Kandla port in Gujarat after passing through the Strait of Hormuz earlier this month, highlighting the continued strategic importance of the route.
