U.S. President Donald Trump has raised the possibility of an Iranian link to the incident involving Flydubai Flight FZ1073. Trump suggested that the Omani co-pilot accused of attacking the captain and attempting to take control of the aircraft may have had connections to Iran. He said the assessment was based on information he was hearing and added that U.S. authorities were continuing to work on the matter.
The flight, travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv, was diverted to Tabuk in Saudi Arabia after a serious cockpit incident in which the co-pilot allegedly attacked the captain. The aircraft landed safely, and authorities in several countries are investigating the incident, including its motive and whether any outside organisation was involved. While Trump has raised the possibility of an Iranian connection, investigators have not publicly established such a link. The final findings are expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.
