Andhra Pradesh has stepped up preparations for the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal hearing scheduled to begin on July 22 over the Krishna river water dispute and objections raised by Telangana. A legal team led by Supreme Court senior advocates Jaideep Gupta and Umapathi has arrived in Vijayawada to coordinate with senior Water Resources Department officials and review the state's legal strategy.
The legal team is also expected to brief Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on the progress of the case and discuss arguments to be presented before the tribunal. Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh government is preparing its counter to Telangana's petition against the Polavaram-Banakacherla project. Discussions are also underway regarding the appointment of a new chief engineer for the interstate water disputes division.
