A tragic incident occurred during the Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri, Odisha, where a stampede broke out due to a massive rush of devotees. One person lost their life and more than 100 devotees were injured. The situation turned chaotic when devotees surged forward while the deities were being brought from the sanctum to the chariots, leading to severe overcrowding and breathing difficulties.
Police and emergency response teams quickly intervened to control the situation and provide medical assistance. The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. A similar incident was reported last year near Gundicha Temple, where three devotees died and over 50 were injured. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident.
