Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Mahesh Kumar Goud, addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, strongly criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), stating that its national president’s recent visit to Telangana failed to make any political impact. He alleged that the BJP lacks a proper understanding of Telangana’s history, social dynamics, and statehood movement, and claimed that the people of the state do not see the party as a viable alternative.
Mahesh Kumar Goud credited Congress and former UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi for the formation of Telangana, while also acknowledging the sacrifices made by thousands during the statehood movement. He accused the BJP-led Central Government of neglecting Telangana, questioned its silence on issues such as Kaleshwaram and Ayodhya, and alleged misuse of central agencies, including the CBI, ED, and the Election Commission. He further stated that Telangana remains committed to communal harmony and that Congress will continue to remain a strong political force in the state.
