The reported firing incident involving actor Tiger Shroff has once again brought the security of Bollywood celebrities into focus. Several actors, singers and filmmakers have faced attacks or threats over the years. T-Series founder Gulshan Kumar was murdered in Mumbai in 1997, while filmmaker Rakesh Roshan survived a shooting in 2000, shortly after the release of Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai. Investigations into these cases examined alleged underworld links and financial demands, highlighting the risks faced by prominent figures in the entertainment industry.
In recent years, the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, shooting incidents involving singers Gippy Grewal and AP Dhillon in Canada, the firing incident at actor Disha Patani’s residence and attacks on comedian Kapil Sharma’s café have drawn attention. Firing at filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence and reported threats against actors Ranveer Singh and Aayush Sharma have added to concerns. In some cases, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang or people associated with it have been named in investigations or claimed responsibility. Salman Khan’s residence was targeted in a shooting in 2024, following which his security was strengthened amid continued threats. The incidents have renewed concerns about the safety of celebrities, although the circumstances and responsibility for each case must be assessed separately.
