Three-Day Nationwide Bank Strike Deferred

The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has deferred the proposed three-day nationwide bank strike scheduled for September 28–30. The decision followed discussions between the UFBU and the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA), which agreed to constitute a high-level committee to examine the demand for declaring the remaining Saturdays as holidays.

With the strike deferred, bank branches are expected to function normally from Monday, September 28. The UFBU said further action would be decided after the high-level committee examines the outstanding issues. The proposed strike had primarily focused on the demand for a five-day banking week.
