Floodwaters inundated the HPCL plant in Raigad district of Maharashtra, causing nearly 3,000 LPG cylinders to be swept away into a nearby river. Several cylinders later drifted to the riverbanks, where local residents were reportedly seen collecting and carrying them away, raising serious safety concerns.
District authorities have warned the public not to touch, move, or use the cylinders under any circumstances, as they may pose a significant risk of gas leakage or explosions. The Raigad District Collector has urged people to immediately report the location of any stranded cylinders to the authorities so they can be safely recovered and handled by trained personnel.
