Gen Z is redefining traditional ideas about success in the corporate world. While previous generations often viewed promotions, senior positions, higher salaries and private cabins as key career goals, young employees are placing greater importance on personal well-being and work-life balance. According to a study by global education and upskilling platform Emeritus, nearly 74% of Gen Z employees value work-life balance more than leadership titles.
The rapid pace of technological change is also creating pressure on young professionals to constantly learn new skills. The study found that around 60% of young employees experience burnout due to the pressure to continuously upskill. At the same time, they are turning to technology to manage this challenge. As many as 82% of Gen Z employees use AI and generative AI tools every week to learn new skills faster and make their work easier.
Their priorities also extend beyond personal career growth. Gen Z is increasingly showing interest in green careers and jobs that contribute to environmental sustainability. Rather than focusing only on salary and position, they are looking for recognition, mental well-being and a positive environmental impact. This reflects the emergence of a new workplace culture that places equal importance on career, personal life and social responsibility.
