The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has launched an advanced CCTV surveillance initiative to strengthen passenger safety and improve security across its bus network. Under the new project titled “Bussulo Bharosa,” the corporation has introduced high-tech surveillance cameras in buses operating in the Adilabad region as part of a pilot programme. The initiative has been launched in coordination with the police department to prevent thefts, suspicious activities and other untoward incidents during travel.
Nearly 175 buses in the Adilabad region have been equipped with strategically placed CCTV cameras covering the driver cabin, women’s reserved seating area, footboard and rear sections of the buses. The live visuals are connected to RTC control rooms, allowing continuous monitoring by officials. Authorities believe the system will help identify suspicious individuals, improve staff accountability and ensure safer travel, especially for women and elderly passengers travelling during night hours. Based on the pilot project’s success, TGSRTC is planning to expand the surveillance system to buses across the state.
