Terror Threat to Kashmiri Pandit Employees

The Jammu and Kashmir administration has stepped up security measures after a purported threat letter targeting Kashmiri Pandit government employees surfaced. Employees appointed under the Prime Minister’s special employment package have reportedly been advised to avoid public places and remain in safer locations. According to reports, the threat letter, allegedly issued by a group linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), contained names, photographs and other details of some employees and warned that they could be targeted. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the threat and intensified security arrangements.

Following the threat, hundreds of Kashmiri Pandit employees were reportedly placed on leave until August 25, while those named in the threat communication were shifted to Jammu for safety, according to police and media reports. The development has revived concerns over the security of employees recruited under the PM employment package. Kashmiri Pandit employees had faced targeted attacks in 2022, prompting prolonged protests seeking relocation to Jammu. Subsequently, the administration provided postings at safer locations in Srinagar and other major towns.
