Representatives from the United States and Iran met in Switzerland on Sunday as part of ongoing efforts to establish lasting peace in West Asia. However, the high-level talks were overshadowed by viral videos suggesting a diplomatic snub involving US Vice President JD Vance. The footage appeared to show Iran’s Foreign Minister walking out while Vance waited, and Qatar’s Prime Minister seemingly ignoring him, sparking widespread debate online.
According to reports, the US delegation had planned a handshake and photo session with Iranian representatives before the talks. However, tensions escalated after Donald Trump warned Iran against supporting Hezbollah in attacks on Israel. In response, Tehran’s delegation refused the photo session and staged a walkout. Mediators from Pakistan were reportedly taken aback by the developments. Despite the tense atmosphere, discussions progressed, focusing on Iran’s nuclear program and Israel’s operations in Lebanon, indicating a cautious step toward peace.
