Asian Group chief Suniel Narang’s resignation from the Telangana Film Chamber president post has created fresh debate within Telugu film industry circles. Many believe his decision could be connected to the ongoing discussions between producers and exhibitors regarding the percentage-based revenue system.
The issue had become a major talking point ahead of Ram Charan’s Peddi. Exhibitors had demanded either a revised interim percentage system or an increase in rental value until the Chamber finalizes its report. The Chamber reportedly agreed to the proposal, allowing exhibitors a share in increased ticket prices across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, which earlier largely benefited producers and distributors.
Following this development, speculation arose that internal differences and disagreements over revenue structure may have influenced the resignation. However, Suniel Narang later clarified in a public note that he stepped down due to internal pressure and health issues, and suggested possible successors for the role.
