Telangana Will Be Made a Hut-Free State - Ponguleti

Telangana aims to become a state without huts through the Indiramma housing scheme, Minister for Housing and Revenue Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said. During his visit to Jangaon on Saturday, the minister participated in housewarming ceremonies and distributed sanction documents to beneficiaries. He also inaugurated and laid foundation stones for various development works worth ₹45 crore. He said the government was implementing the Indiramma housing scheme to help fulfil the dream of owning a house for poor families. The first phase covers 4.5 lakh sanctioned houses, with the government working to complete 2.18 lakh houses by Dasara, he said.

Ponguleti said the state government was moving ahead with house construction without waiting for the release of central funds. He said more houses would be allocated in the second phase and eligible poor families would be covered under the scheme. The minister also said undistributed plots from land previously acquired for housing would be provided to eligible beneficiaries, along with financial assistance for house construction. He reiterated that the scheme would be implemented without political considerations and that all eligible beneficiaries would be covered.
