Liquor sales in Telangana rose sharply during the Dasara festive period, with sales worth ₹755.14 crore recorded across four working days before the festival, according to the figures cited in the report. Sales stood at ₹102.17 crore on October 14, ₹126.32 crore on October 16, ₹223.25 crore on October 17 and ₹303.40 crore on October 19. The highest sales were recorded on October 19. During the corresponding four-day period last year, liquor sales reportedly totalled ₹698 crore, indicating an increase this year.
The report also stated that 6.83 lakh cases of hard liquor and 10.44 lakh cases of beer were sold during the four working days. By October 19, liquor sales for the month had reached ₹2,055 crore. In comparison, sales were valued at ₹3,209 crore in September and ₹3,482 crore in August. Liquor is sold across the state through wine shops, bars, restaurants, pubs and clubs. Excise revenue remains one of the Telangana government’s important sources of income. The festive-period figures highlight the rise in liquor sales during Dasara, although the full-month October total will depend on sales recorded during the remaining days.
