Telangana recorded its highest ever electricity demand on Thursday, reaching 20,003 MW, State Energy Special Chief Secretary Naveen Mittal said. He stated that the demand was met without power cuts. During an inspection of the Yadadri Thermal Power Plant with GENCO CMD Dr. Harish, Mittal reviewed issues in the coal handling plant with senior BHEL engineers and inspected other key facilities.
Mittal said the plant’s four operating units had generated more than 2,109 MW of electricity for the first time. To strengthen the state’s power supply, preparations are underway to commission the fifth unit this week. The authorities are planning to carry out the unit’s synchronisation as part of the process, he added.
