The Telangana government has officially launched the New Employees Health Scheme (NEHS) to provide comprehensive cashless healthcare services for government employees, pensioners and their dependent family members. The scheme will benefit around 8 lakh employees and pensioners, covering nearly 29.8 lakh beneficiaries through 886 empanelled private hospitals. It includes 1,816 medical procedures under CGHS package rates and aims to eliminate the financial burden of hospital expenses.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, along with Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha, inaugurated the scheme at the Secretariat. He said the government introduced the initiative to strengthen healthcare security for employees while also clearing nearly ₹10,000 crore worth of pending medical reimbursement bills left by the previous government. He urged employees to continue serving the public with greater commitment, stating that employee welfare remains a key priority of the state government.
