Telangana Invites Applications for 41 New 2B Bars

The Telangana Prohibition & Excise Department has issued a notification inviting applications for 41 new 2B bars across the state. Applications for 14 bars within the Core Urban Region (CUR) and 27 bars in other municipal corporations and municipalities will be accepted from September 28 to October 12. Applicants must pay a ₹1 lakh application fee. The government has permitted the new bars in view of the increase in population following the formation of the CUR, creation of new municipalities and merger of villages into municipalities.

Applications for the 14 bars under the Greater Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri areas can be submitted at the Excise Bhavan Commissioner’s Office and the respective Deputy Commissioner’s offices. Applications for bars in other districts can be submitted at the concerned Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner and DPEO offices. Applications will be accepted only on government working days between 10 am and 5 pm. The annual excise fee will be ₹44 lakh for 2B bars in Greater Hyderabad, ₹42 lakh for the Bodhan bar in Nizamabad, and ₹30 lakh for the remaining bars.
