Telangana High Court Orders Probe Into Assembly Gate Police Action

The Telangana High Court on September 7 took serious note of allegations that police personnel obstructed and allegedly manhandled BRS legislators at the Assembly entrance during the ongoing session. The petition was filed by the BRS Legislature Party, which sought urgent intervention after its MLAs were stopped from entering the Assembly. Reports said the confrontation involved women legislators as well.

Justice T. Madhavi Devi directed DGP CV Anand to identify the police officials allegedly responsible for the incidents and initiate appropriate action. The court also directed that a detailed report on the inquiry and action taken be submitted. It further clarified that if legislators violate Assembly rules, the authority to take action rests with the Speaker rather than the police.
