Telangana Government Tightens Action Over Paddy Procurement Dues

The Telangana government has stepped up its focus on recovering pending paddy procurement dues from rice millers. Officials said around Rs. 98 crore is yet to be recovered from millers in Mahabubabad district and warned that strict action would be taken against those who fail to clear the dues within the stipulated deadline.

As part of the enforcement drive, Vigilance and Civil Supplies Department officials inspected Mahadeva Industries after allegations that the mill had failed to supply rice to the government despite receiving paddy during the 2022-23 Rabi and Yasangi seasons. The mill had also reportedly received paddy in 2024 but did not deliver the required rice. During the inspection, officials found that the paddy was not available at the mill and subsequently registered a case. Kesamudram Agricultural Market former chairperson was also arrested in connection with the case.
