The Telangana Transport Department’s fare revision committee has recommended increasing the minimum autorickshaw fare from ₹20 to ₹30. Under the proposed structure, passengers would pay ₹30 for the first 1.6 km and ₹14 for every subsequent kilometre. A detention charge of 75 paise per minute has also been recommended, while journeys between 11 pm and 5 am would attract 1.5 times the normal fare.
The recommendations also cover luggage charges, with a maximum permissible luggage limit of 100 kg and exemptions for small items such as briefcases and handbags. If the revised tariff is approved and notified, autorickshaw owners could be given three months to reset digital meters. During the transition period, autos would be required to display tariff cards showing the applicable fare details. However, available reports describe these figures as recommendations, and a final government notification could not be independently confirmed from the latest sources reviewed.
