Telangana Godavari Pushkaralu Preparations Begin Early

The Telangana government is making advance preparations to conduct the Godavari Pushkaralu on a grand scale from June 27 next year, showcasing the state’s spiritual and cultural heritage to the world, Minister Jupally Krishna Rao said. During his visit to the Basara temple on Sunday, he laid the foundation stones for development and new construction works at the Sri Gnana Saraswati Temple, being taken up at a cost of ₹354 crore, along with the expansion of Pushkar ghats at a cost of ₹20 crore.

Speaking at a review meeting later, the minister said the safety and convenience of devotees would remain the government’s top priority. He said the Pushkar ghats were being expanded to accommodate the expected increase in the number of devotees. Special changing rooms for women, continuous sanitation arrangements and free medical services round the clock would also be provided.

The minister said infrastructure facilities were being developed at Basara and 12 other locations along the river at a total cost of ₹1,000 crore. He added that works had been started nearly one and a half years in advance as per the directions of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, with the aim of ensuring better facilities and smooth arrangements for devotees during the Pushkaralu.
