Telangana Gears Up for El Niño

The Telangana Government has prepared a comprehensive strategy to reduce the impact of El Niño on agriculture, drinking water, and power supply. Speaking at a state-level awareness seminar organised by the Planning Department at Ravindra Bharathi, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said the government is taking proactive measures to ensure that climate related changes do not affect people's livelihoods. Minister Mohammed Azharuddin also attended the event.

Bhatti Vikramarka said the government is creating awareness from the village level by explaining how temperature changes in the Pacific Ocean can influence weather conditions in Telangana. He added that plans are being implemented to promote alternative crops that require less water and to strengthen smart energy management through greater use of solar power during the daytime, helping reduce costs while maintaining grid stability.
