Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) CV Anand has reportedly imposed restrictions on police personnel participating in dances and other entertainment activities while wearing their official khaki uniforms at private functions and celebrations. Personnel who violate these instructions could face departmental disciplinary action. The directive comes amid incidents in which police officers in uniform have reportedly been seen dancing, delivering speeches or participating in entertainment programmes during festivals, processions and private events, with some videos circulating on social media.
Senior officials have emphasised that the police uniform represents discipline, authority and public responsibility. The instructions have reportedly been communicated to personnel at the district level to protect the dignity and reputation of the police force. While the restrictions are intended to ensure professional conduct, the precise extent to which they apply to official cultural programmes and celebrations organised by the police department remains unclear based on the available information.
