

The Telangana Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, held a detailed discussion on the prevailing El Niño conditions and their impact on the state. Officials informed the Cabinet that drought-like conditions had been identified in around 235 mandals due to severe rainfall deficiency. The Cabinet decided to discuss immediate relief and mitigation measures in the Cabinet Sub-Committee. The Chief Minister also directed officials to convene an all-party meeting soon to seek suggestions and inputs on addressing the situation.
The Cabinet decided to seek central assistance along with the formal declaration of drought-affected mandals in Telangana. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy suggested meeting Union Ministers and explaining the situation in the state to seek the required support. The government also decided to gather suggestions on the impact of El Niño and possible relief measures, with particular focus on the challenges related to agriculture, drinking water and irrigation.
