

YSR Congress MP from Araku, Dr. Gumma Thanuja Rani, got an opportunity to represent India at the 81st United Nations General Assembly. As part of the Indian parliamentary delegation, she spoke at the Fifth Committee, which deals with administrative and budgetary matters. Addressing the agenda item on the “Organization of Work”, Thanuja Rani highlighted the need to advance the UN reform agenda and called for greater transparency and efficiency in the organization’s administrative and financial affairs.
Thanuja Rani also stressed the importance of timely financial contributions by member states for the smooth functioning of UN programmes and activities. She called for assessed contributions to be paid fully and on time, without preconditions, and emphasized the need for adequate resources for the UN’s development pillar. She further supported consensus-based decision-making in the Fifth Committee and said cooperation among member states could help improve the UN’s functioning.
