Tamil Nadu Temples Ban Mobile Phones.. New Rules for Devotees

The Tamil Nadu government has introduced restrictions on carrying mobile phones into several prominent temples across the state. The new rules apply to devotees visiting major spiritual destinations, including Arunachalam, Madurai Meenakshi Temple, Rameswaram, Srirangam, Palani Dhandayuthapani Temple and Tiruchendur Subramanya Swamy Temple. Devotees are also prohibited from taking photographs, recording videos, clicking selfies or making reels inside the temple premises.

The restrictions are said to apply equally to ordinary devotees, VIPs and celebrities. To help visitors safely store their phones, dedicated lockers and mobile storage counters have been arranged at temple entrances. A fee of Rs.5 will reportedly be collected for each phone, with a digital receipt provided to the devotee. Temple authorities have appealed to everyone to cooperate with the new rules.
