Tamil Nadu Plans New Assembly, Secretariat

The Tamil Nadu government has decided to construct a new Assembly and Secretariat complex at an estimated cost of ₹1,200 crore, Chief Minister Vijay announced in the Assembly on Thursday. He said the new buildings would be designed to serve the state for at least 100 years and would be developed with modern standards while keeping future administrative requirements in mind.

Vijay also said the existing Fort St. George buildings would be preserved as heritage landmarks for future generations. In addition, the government is working on plans to develop an Olympic City and a Motor Sports City in the state as part of efforts to strengthen sports infrastructure. The new Assembly and Secretariat complex is expected to provide long-term infrastructure for Tamil Nadu’s administrative needs.
