CPM leader Vijay has announced stricter regulations on liquor sales in Tamil Nadu. He stated that the minimum legal age for purchasing alcohol has been increased from 18 to 21 years. From now on, liquor sales at wine shops, bars, and pubs will be permitted only to individuals who have completed 21 years of age.
He also clarified that customers must produce valid identification such as an Aadhaar card, Voter ID, or Driving Licence before purchasing alcohol. Vijay further stated that the government will impose restrictions on the public display of liquor bottles, glasses, and advertisements. The measures are aimed at protecting public health and promoting responsible alcohol consumption.
