Tamil Nadu CM Vijay to Embark on Foreign Visit

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay is set to undertake his first foreign visit after assuming office, with a trip to the United Kingdom scheduled from September 10 to 16. The visit will primarily focus on attracting new industrial investments to Tamil Nadu. Vijay is expected to hold discussions with investors and representatives of major companies and highlight the state’s opportunities across various industrial sectors.

Tamil Nadu is stepping up its efforts to attract global investments as competition for major industrial and capital projects intensifies in the southern region, particularly between Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. The state is also reaching out to other international manufacturing hubs. A delegation led by Industries Minister Keerthana is scheduled to visit Taiwan on September 4 for the Semicon conference, with discussions expected to focus on semiconductors, technology and manufacturing. The UK visit also comes after the UK-India trade agreement took effect in July 2026, providing an additional platform to strengthen business and trade ties.
