The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear petitions challenging the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls today. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and several leaders from the INDIA bloc have filed writ petitions questioning the process. The petitions appear on the Supreme Court’s cause list for today, according to the court’s website.
The petitioners allege that the SIR exercise has led to the removal of a large number of eligible voters’ names from electoral rolls. They have raised concerns over the process and the protection of eligible voters’ rights. Attention is now focused on the Supreme Court hearing and the developments that may emerge from the proceedings.
